Dang even if it were a weed I would want one of these, probably wouldn't grow in Iowa, but I would still like to know what it is if you ever find out.

Your plant reminds me a bit of a type of clemitus I've seen, but can't remember what it was called

It's not Verbascum. Verbascum has different leaves, and the flowers only have 5 petals. However, whatever it it, it sure is attractive! Hope when you find out, it's something that will grow here in Western NY.

It is definitely not a verbascum. Look at the leaf. Looks more like a type of hybiscus.

A Viburnum is a bush, a butterfly bush. This is in the class of a short "woody plant." It almost looks similar to an impation, or a wild violet. Have never seen a viotet this color, but the leaves are very simiar.

Thanks Mareline S, I did put it on Dave's Garden, thanks for the tip. It is very large site. All kinds of ID plants. I went thru about 60 or so pages and so lots of plants, didn't think we had so many Id Plants. Thanks again. Interesting.
