These formerly clear glass shakers now have a new purpose.
Since it was time for a change a new set of shakers was purchased recently, and these two were retired..... But not for long.
Since it was time for a change a new set of shakers was purchased recently, and these two were retired..... But not for long.
These are the finished jars that once held there place here on the stove. Well not this exact stove, the former stove now in retirement too.
I saw these when I was headed down to the basement where I work on a variety of projects, and thought what would be a simple way to re-purpose these . One, so they don't end up in the recycle bin, and secondly, so they don't just end up on the'' someday'' table. Third which in truth is first , I saw something to paint on.
The shaker glass was in good shape , and cleaned up easily. The lids especially the one for the salt had seen their better days. That is over stating it a bit mainly it was time for a change. I sprayed one jar black for pepper and the other white for salt. The lids were each painted but not going to be used.
The shakers had raised lettering and a circled cornucopia that I highlighted with the opposite color to the jars.
The forks were secured in place using rubber silicone. Not wanting to fill the jars up completely with plaster of paris , a balled up paper towel was placed inside each. Then for each container plaster was mixed up, on the thin side ,so it would pour easier and added to the jars.
Having some artificial flowers left from the other project, one was cut for each of the shakers. The stem of the flowers were put in the plaster as it hardened. The yellow flower had the little purple flowers with it. So a couple little white flowers were found for the orange one.
When I had finished there was nothing but the base color on the backs. I saw that they needed something to brighten it up a little, so a quick flower and butterfly was added to each.
Enjoyed the project?
