Do you have hideous wallpaper? Are you wanting it to disappear? Does the thought of stripping wallpaper make you want to scream? Well, there could be an easier fix!
I buy old, neglected, and ugly houses and flip them all by myself! I tackle many of the projects myself. It's a crazy house-flipping life, but come follow along at my blog: The Bachelorette Pad Flip- https://bachelorettepadflip.wordpress.com/

As I've posted before, my house flip #2 was just atrocious with the retro wallpaper. It was all so loud, and ugly, and especially in the kitchen- this still life scene was random and dated. It HAD to go! But I had a slight little problem-- the wallpaper was expertly done and the seams were flawless and removing the wallpaper was going to be a huge chore, so I opted to paint it!
I started by using a primer (Kilz) over the pattern. Even though the paint I used was a primer/paint mix, I still wanted an extra coat because the wallpaper was so busy and bold.
I chose to use a paint brush rather than a roller, and the texture turned out great. Since the wallpaper was professionally done, you can't even see the seams anywhere!
In about an hour, I had made my ugly wallpaper disappear with minimal effort!
Enjoyed the project?

R-Squared Construction on May 21, 2016Use a oil based primer instead of the typical latex primers. That will keep the wallpaper paste beneath from getting moist and releasing which can create bubbles.

The Bachelorette Pad Flip on May 22, 2016@Darla No you don't. I usually use Kilz oil based paint on everything from doors, walls, cabinets, etc. and then use whatever paint I want (usually latex) over it.
