I have been seeing giant pinwheels in every store in their outdoor decor. I love them, but at $10 each I thought I could DIY them for much less. I was right! The problem, what could I use to make my pinwheels weather-resistant? If I used paper it wouldn't last a week in my flower garden.
Sometimes you get inspiration in surprising places. I was in the office section at Target and they had these bright colored binder dividers on clearance so I snagged a few. Then all it took was a few more simple supplies: a dowel, a nail, a straw and my glue gun, to make these awesome giant outdoor pinwheels for my flower garden!
Making these pinwheels is super easy. I made a template that you can download for free here. I also made a Silhouette cut file to cut them out super fast with my Silhouette.
Once I got them all cut out, I used my glue gun to assemble the pinwheels (super easy). Then I lined them up on a nail using pieces of straws as spacers. Then nailed it into the dowel (after I predrilled a little hole so that the dowel wouldn't split).
Easy as that! I made two different colors but have enough left over binder dividers for two more and can't wait to make them! I think this time I will change up the colors, or maybe even use 3 colors per pinwheel.
Such a fun and simple DIY that makes my flower garden pop. Make sure to visit my blog for more simple crafts and fun DIYs.
