What to do with the metal piece around shelf?

Jan Loehr on May 20, 2016Brass can be spray painted...in looking at your photo I wonder if it's possible to remove this...maybe you have hidden screws on either side inside the cabinets?? If you can remove this a great product is Rustoleum spray paint in many colors...comes in Metallic, Hammered, Flat or Satin...I used Oil Rubbed Bronze on my brass hardware on a chest of drawers and they look brand new...you could choose the color which blends best with your kitchen....if it cannot be removed you will have to a lot of covering and taping around it in place...but spraying in the house is going to create lots of overspray unfortunately....Best of Luck...!!Helpful Reply

Janet Pizaro on May 20, 2016Honestly your photo is very dark and hard to tell if this can be removed to re-spray paint with a newer look.Helpful Reply

William on May 20, 2016The posts are bolted from underneath. Can easily be removed. Also you may consider painting the back a color off the back splash tile to lighten things up.Helpful Reply

DF on May 21, 2016I'm wondering if you could add tin to the back panel (either permanent or command picture strips) so your light would reflect and make whatever you put there show better? If the pieces can be removed, I agree that spray painting would be a great update !Helpful Reply

Johnchip on May 21, 2016So easy today to find the right kind of paint, easy job. My first thought was to go a gun metal grey, but maybe some bright cheerful color, you can always repaint it very time you mood or kitchen colors change.Helpful Reply

Sonia Burrows on May 21, 2016I like William's idea of lighten the back up. You may even want to consider putting in antique mirror tile.Helpful Reply
