You Can Take Cuttings of Tomato Plants to Make More Plants

Propagation is the art of taking one plant and using parts of it to make another. Sometimes this is done by division, such as with perennials. Other times, a leaf or a stem is used to make a new plant. Most of the time when cuttings are mentioned as a means of propagation, it is with house plants. I decided to try it this year with tomato plants.
I had my doubts. For some reason, I just had not thought of ever trying to take cuttings of veggie plants,. But my experiment was a huge success.
Not only did the cuttings take, but they were some of my most abundant and healthy plants last season. I got loads of baby tomatoes from these two plants.

Carole Clayton on Jun 13, 2014I think Tomatoes is one of the easiest to propagate ~ just break off a side branch and stick it in the soil and you have a new plant in so time!

David Ogden on Dec 03, 2014The best way to grow tomatoes from a clipping is to use the sucker. it grows between the leafs and the plant itself just stick in the grown and use plenty of water keep it moist.
