Pssst, Want to Make Your Paper Books Part of Your Decor?

3 Materials

If you like decorating with books but only have a pile of paperbacks, here's an idea to use them. I'm into farmhouse style so my books are rustic, but this would work for different styles. I'm planning to decorate more in blue for a summer display.
No books were harmed in this DIY project.
1. Toss a pile of not so pretty paperback books on the floor...or table!
2. Grab some twine, burlap ribbon, and buttons. I like farmhouse style, but you could grab items in a favorite color or in a "softer" style.
3. Grab sheets of copy paper, scrapbook paper or papers of different colors. I used copy paper and parchment paper for mine. Above I ran water over a piece of copy paper for a shabby look for one of the books. Then using two clothespins, I hung the paper to dry. This gives a crinkle feel and look to the paper. {It's not necessary to wet the paper}
4. I covered the books with the paper holding in place with tape. Then added twine, burlap, ribbon, buttons and even pieces of broken jewelry along the spine using hot glue. Then wrapped all the shabby books with twine to display in our guest room. Paperbacks never looked so good.
There's a video covering the project on the website. Click over to check it out.
