My creative juices are definitely not flowing today! This spool is 13.6 inches across and 8 inches tall - what would someone do with it?

I've made an ottoman out of it before. Cover it with some nice patterned cloth. The base I painted and the shaft part I overhead in a plain clothe that complimented the patterned part.

How about using it as the base for a lazy Susan style serving piece? You can paint or stain it and add a coordinating round platter on top. It's too small for a table if it's only 8" tall...but would be cute as a stand for a potted plant

I have four spools, different sizes basically I stalked contractors doing a major remodel at work until I got two of them and then my daughter's neighbor did a remodel and put two out at the curb (yes I have them now!_ . Right now they are in storage while we work on remodeling our house, or I'd show you how I normally use them. I did find some pictures of when I was painting the large one, so I included that pic. Anyway, the smallest one is used for my jars and bottles of paint for my crafts. The large one has wood in the middle section and I painted it turquoise, put heavy duty casters on it, and it is great for a table. The middle sized one also has wheels, and I use it for craft storage. I bought inexpensive flower pots at the dollar tree and use them to hold all my miscellaneous stuff like scissors and markers. The only one I haven't put into regular use is currently on the back porch, and I had kept my containers from starting seeds on it until I planted them. Now it tries to make me feel guilty every day because I've been too busy to make it over. Maybe you will all give me some fun ideas!

Considering that is it only 8 inches tall, I'd paint it, and make it a centerpiece for a dining room table using it as a pedestal for candles, flowers etc.

I would use the column of the spool to set the tone for the event but overall, this spool is a cupcake or dessert bar. For example, if the event is a July 4th picnic, then decorate the column with a flag and paint the top and bottom spools red (top) and blue (bottom). Another thought would be a summer party then wrap some silk ivy strands around the column and the paint the bottom and top spools a spring color or cover with wallpaper. So many possibilities. Good luck!

You could turn it into a foot rest if it isn't too tall. paint it, and stuff and upholster the top for lounging ottoman comfort!

At first I saw a cat scratching post, but then after reading, it's way too short. Now I am visualizing a foot stool with a padded top and maybe some dividers on the bottom for storage. You could also put a "curtain" around it and hide storage that way. I've never seen one this small before. Have fun with it!

Boy, I would love finding one of those. Those heavy duty Christmas light extention cords would roll up on it and sit in one small footprint.

I would take it apart and use one round to make a clock and the other round to make a serving tray. I've seen very neat ideas for both here on hometalk. Please let us know what you decide.
