Baby Room on a Budget

My wife and I are having a baby in a month, so of course she wanted to do up the room. I'm the type to do everything myself, so this isn't any different.
I did the base and crown ~$100
My wife and her friend made the curtains and bought rods ~$100
The dresser I had previously bought and refinished for ~$200
The recliner was bought from a local furniture place for ~$300
The crib was bought on sale at Babies R US for $150 and is actually really solid.
My wife purchase a storage unit for the closet from Ikea for $30.
Everything else, blankets and stuff we received at her baby shower.
So, all in all, less than $1000 over a couple months. I think it came out pretty well.

You have a really great start to your babies room, congratulations. I'd like to see some colors in that room as babies respond to colorful objects. Maybe a painted mural on the wall or even some colorful stick on (easy to peel off flowers.) I recently helped my grand daughter "spiff" up her room. I bought some sale dressers and painted them and then spent about $10.00 at Michale's Crafts (or Hobby Lobby) and bought some colorful peel and place flowers for her walls. Crafts stores have many options from wall quotes to a lot more. She and I put them up together so not only did it improve her room it was an activity we enjoyed together. We also put up glow in the dark stars for her to enjoy after dark.
