Pam on May 17, 2012Can you post photos of the floor and the bath. It sounds like it may be too dark but without photos, there no way to answer this question.Helpful Reply

KMS Woodworks on May 17, 2012hardwood in a bathroom?....not a good idea. Baths, kitchens and laundry rooms should be done in tile...the exposure to moisture is not so great for wood. You can find some great looking porcelain tiles in "walnut" type colorsHelpful Reply

Goua V on May 17, 2012I don't want real hardwood in my bathroom. Porecelain was what I meant the ones that look like wood. My problem is that would look different then the rest of house. Even if they refinished the red oak it won't be as dark as the dark walnut look I'm going for.Helpful Reply

Goua V on May 17, 2012My real question is would it matter that the bathroom has different color flooring? Would that be such a bad design choice? One real wood the other fake...Helpful Reply

KMS Woodworks on May 17, 2012different colors in different rooms is very common. Espesically if these rooms have doors that "close" them off from other parts of the home. Where some may see conflict is in very open layouts where a "great room" configuration is present....but even here floor differences can help "define" the spaces. I have many rooms in my home with different floor coverings. My master bedroom has a dark hardwood (jatoba) with the adjacent rooms being (travertine) master bath ...and a Redish rosewood in the walk through library. My living room has the same redish rosewood but the adjacent kitchen and home office are done in a mottle brown granite tile.Helpful Reply

Miriam Illions on May 17, 2012Firstly, if you love it, I think you should go for it. Also,I don't think that's a bad design choice at all. Perhaps you could somehow transition into it, or somehow "pay tribute" to the other flooring in the bathroom decor.Helpful Reply
