Products I Use

Genevre

I've compiled a great list of products, that I love to use for my painting projects (click on the links on my blog for more details).
Sanding Pads – These pads are designed to be used with an orbital sander. The following pack comes in various sanding grits for different finishes.Orbital Sander – The following links to the exact orbital sander that I use and love Spray Primers – These are my two favorite primers. I probably use the cover stain more. The BIN primer is more for quick fixes or quick jobs.Paint Sprayer – This is my favorite paint sprayer (for latex paint). This is the exact one I use:Drop Cloths – With drop cloths, it’s important to get at least 2 mil. That’s the thickness of the plastic. In my opinion, thinner than that, you’ll have problems with tearing.Bamboo Skewers – I use these for cleaning corners of trim and getting out little “dust bunnies”Paint Brush – Wooster is one of the better brands. You might need a variety of sizes, depending on what you are painting.Knobs & Pulls (Hardware) – Amazon is SUCH a good place to buy knobs and pulls for SO much cheaper than your local hardware store, especially if you are buying in bulk.Clear Coat – After painting with latex, for extra protection I’ll use a coat of Polycrylic.Furniture Wax – Sometimes, as an alternative to a clear coat, I’ll do furniture wax over latex.Foam Roller With Multiple Foam Pads – I use these to get a smooth finish on small projects.Respirator – With the fumes from the primers and paints, especially the dust from sanding, this is must-have.Hand Truck / Dolly – This is must have if you are consistantly moving furniture to refinish.Cordless Drill – We use this constantly to change the spacing of the holes for drawer pulls.Furniture Dollys – We always have our pieces on furniture dollys while were working on them. It makes the painting project SO much easier.Rags – A must have. We must go through 25 of these a day.Cheap Small Paint Brushes – I always keep some of these cheap, small paint brushes on hand, for little touch ups.
