Oh thank you! I'm really not sure what it is, or what I'm going to do with it! I guess it will be a surprise...to both of us!;)

Wow! I love it too! I would use it to set up a bar :)
  • Lisa Pursel Lisa Pursel on Jun 07, 2016
It could be a kitchen island, you could hang pots from top
  • Tanya ragnone Tanya ragnone on Jun 07, 2016
I would chalk paint it and turn it into a bar

Its a beautiful piece! Looks like someone took different furniture parts and attempted to build something. Hence the plywood front. My first look at the photo, a bar buffet hutch wine server came to mind. Could be used indoor or outdoor.

What a great piece. Coffee, wine/liquor bar, buffet....it can have many uses but chalk paint for sure! Please post an after pic....

@I've never tried chalk paint! I think this will be my next big adventure!

It looks like an old mantle I had in a house I rented in New Orleans. They had small gas heaters instead of fireplaces and and the mantles were very ornate and beautiful.

I'd replace that front piece with a long built in wood wine rack, and stain everything a darker color. Use it as a buffet/bar. You could hang glasses from the one side, set out a nice decanter set, liquor bottles, etc. It would look very elegant as a bar and could do double duty as a buffet.

I LOVE all of the ideas! Keep them coming!!!!!

It reminds me of a mud room fixture and I think painted and reworked, it would become a beautiful accent in your home.

I bought a 'dresser?' which is very similar... painted it with white chalk paint now I have it in my kitchen..... get so many compliments on it also the mirror has opened up my kitchen, with a bunch of fresh flowers on top it looks amazing

@Aileen Loggenberg How do you use it? By chance, do you have a picture?
  • Angie Angie on Jun 08, 2016
That sounds great! I just wish there was more room to put hangers on (hard with the mirrors?! I truly appreciate your feedback!:)

Oh my! What a wonderful piece! Notice those mirrors are 13 pieces which represent the 13 original states! From what I can see, there appears to be braces front to back of the underside of the top...why not attach some hanging lights up there...any style that suits you. They could be wired in from either side with a cord which could be tacked down the back of the upright beside the mirrors and would be out of sight...with a switch out of sight too. With that "brace" across the bottom, it would be easy to add another brace and put in a shelf for baskets. I would take out that solid piece just above that brace and make 3-4 closed compartments. That counter could be used for holding baskets, closed boxes, trays, or whatever you want for the room you use it in. This could be finished out to your taste and could go in any room, from a bedroom to the living room.

It looks wide enough to make an interesting headboard. It would also make a great room break/sofa table behind a sofa, with cute bench or ottomans slipped underneath for extra seating. Also a bathroom vanity. It would be easy to put in top mount sinks and the mirrors are taken care of, with cute baskets underneath for some storage. Painted or stained darker, to show off the great accents of course.

It would make a great home bar. You could add lights behind the mo;ding at the top and build some racks to hang wine glasses and perhaps shelves on the lower part for wine storage

Beautiful piece of furniture, No ideas, but want you to post pictures when done! Thanks!

You could knock out part of the outside of house; insert this piece of furniture (like a sliding glass door would be); and make it like a bench/desk where you could make arts & crafts or small wooden projects while looking out upon the pool or the yard !

@UpState Whoa! I'm not sure how the hubby would feel about that! LOL!;)

I think that it would look lovely with some wrought iron hooks on the mirror frame - vintage from an architectural salvage store. I would also add a wooden or plaster appliqué to the centre. Place some baskets beneath for storage. If you like the look of wood, then use Minwax antique oil in a well ventilated area. Shabby chic white with a little distressing with vinegar or do a Minwax polyshades - I love Bombay Mahogany. Stain and finish all in one. Best of luck! Colleen :)

I would recommend to use this as music station. you can keep speakers on either side and the main console in the center. add additional draw below in the empty place so you have 2 draws and can store your DVD's or any music accessories there. You can get the glasses at the back done with pics of Elvis or Michael Jackson or any of your favourite singers!!
