Bedroom Progress, Shelves and Drop Cloth Curtains

Hey friends! Today I want to share some progress we have made in my adult daughter Delaney's bedroom. I last shared this room with you back in February when we switched bedrooms between she and my 16 year old son. We finally got around to hanging these DIY shelves for her to put things and some drop cloth curtains, and it just feels so much more like home in here for her now that she has places to display and store her personal belongings.
Since this is my adult daughter's bedroom at our home, she picked out the wood and the brackets that we used. I am not 100% positive, but I do believe these are pine. We bought the wood, the brackets, and all of the supplies for this project at Home Depot. I purchased a couple of drop cloths from Lowe's and we hung them as curtains. I really like the texture and simplicity of them.
She chose this particular piece of wood because of the variation in color that it contained. She liked that and thought it added interest to the shelves, and I have to say I agree! After I brought these home, I used my hand sander to sand them down really smooth. I cleaned all of the dust off of them after sanding, and then I rubbed them down twice with tung oil. when that was dry I buffed them with a clean cloth. She didn't want these to be stained. she likes the natural simplicity of the wood. The tung oil just conditions them and gives them a nice sheen.
The pencil sketch over her bed is her, and it was drawn by a friend she was in high school with. I had it matted and framed for her for a Christmas gift a few years ago. On her bed is a vintage white chenille bedspread. It is so nice to see her things displayed in her bedroom again, because they were packed up for several months.
