How to Disguise an Ugly Bathroom Counter

I'm so sorry I have to show you this before picture. It's hard for me to admit that we lived with our main bathroom looking this way for more than THREE years. The reason I never did anything about it was that while it was just varying colours of 'blah' brown, it was functional. But the time came...the bathroom just couldn't stay the same for one more day. I'd had ENOUGH!
The first thing we did was paint the entire room (ceiling, wainscoting, walls) a brilliant and clean white. We made sure to use stain and mould blocking primer and paint because it is a high humidity room. Then came the fun part! Using my favorite DIY trick to disguise the parts of the room we weren't going to change. Paint and a STENCIL!
I do have plans to gut this entire bathroom, but for now - we were just going for clean and crisp and we were hoping to distract the eye from the ugly counters. With four different coastal shades of paint, I stencilled all around the mirror accent wall.
Make sure to wipe your stencil down before transferring it to avoid smudges and use painter's tape to protect ceilings and corners. We removed the light fixture to make it easier to work with.
Some new medicine cabinets, a few accessories and a turkish hand towel on a simple hanger, the space feels entirely rejuvenated!! I'm thrilled with this min-makeover :)

I love the look you got with the stencil! I went to the link for your wall stencil and it brought me to Amazon but could not find your stencil. Any suggestions?

Doesn't look like the same room. You are right the focus shifted from the vanity top to your beautiful wall and mirror area. Nice work.
