I need ideas, the counter is not flat on the edges. It is some sort of man made marble.

I'm going to guess it's a solid surface counter top. Which is a resin based product. Laminate tops were not made with the raised edge. Anyway, there are Epoxy Countertop Kits available at Homedepot and Lowes that revitalize old countertops and make them look like granite.

I bought an ezfaux finish for our counter tops. It's like a contact paper, but heavy duty. Scratch and heat resistant. It looks nice and does the job without being expensive or labor intensive. http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2050601.m570.l1311.R2.TR2.TRC0.A0.H0.Xezfau.TRS0&_nkw=ezfauxdecor&_sacat=0 (Don't buy the cheap stuff from Asia. )

Does it have a metal rim around the edges?, if so, you can take that off carefully and buy melamine wall board in big sheets at Lowe's etc, glue it down like laminate, replace metal trim.

Thanks Tabby. It is not a metal trim, just a small rise at the edge to keep liquids from flowing off I guess. I think it is acrylic.. Don't know what was used is double wides in 1971. I don't have a good photo. The trailer is in AZ and I am not.

You should check this out. If it is acrylic, I would think you might have to sand the surface before application. I would think that if it works on laminate, it would most likely work on Acrylic. Need to do some research. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H8m1-cZxDTk
