50's Metal Cabinet Make Over

Kitchen Kelli
by Kitchen Kelli
A man at the flea market a few weeks ago told us he could not sell this cabinet so if we wanted it, we could have it. I needed storage in the garage for my bake ware and if it cleaned up well this would fit the bill. I think it did!
Some kilz and a coat of paint does wonders!
MUCH better!
Not too bad until you open it
That just looked gross and my husband had to scrub with a wire brush and clean it well.

No, sadly it doesn't have a porcelain top so we painted it to. Yes, we used Kilz on it after using a wire brush, like the kind you might use to clean your grill to take off the rust. Then we used Krylon Satin Italian Olive and then just regular silver color for the handles. But you can choose your own of course. I think you will like it!

My whole kitchen is in these cabinets. I would like to update them with more than just paint. I have thought about putting trim around the cabinet doors, but I'm not sure how I would attach it. Any thought? Thanks!
