Giving an Old Fountain New Life

1 Material
We purchased this fountain a few years ago. It made its way with us to the new house- but we were pretty sure it would wind up in the trash heap. It was out in a pile in the elements for a year and was faded and covered with dirt.
Trying to get the fountain clean was the first step. We used a power washer to remove as much of the muck as possible. The images below were actually how it looked AFTER cleaning.
After the fountain was clean and dry, we used a textured Rust-Oleum spray paint to cover the surfaces.
The coverage was even better than we had expected! The paint can says it's for wood, metal, and concrete so the jury is out on how the paint will last through the years.
Allowing the paint to dry completely is SO important. We learned from experience... just when you think the surface is completely dry.. BOOM- hand print. (It was actually not noticeable once the water was flowing)!
The paint coverage was wonderful - this picture is deceiving with the water cascading down the sides. It looks uneven but it's actually not. Check out the entire post and pics Under a Texas Sky
