My central heat will work perfectly for hours, then airflow through the vents stops completely while the fan on the outside unit continues to spin and make a sound as if working properly.(It will cut off if I use thermostat to do so) I have an electric package unit. I've double checked breakers(none flipped), thermostat(every setting is working), filters are clean, no visible debris on unit outside, vents and covers are clean. AC works fine. What in the world am I missing?? Thank you in advance!!!

Mike, your post is an answer to my prayer, thank you. I have a separate, 950 sq. ft. building built new in 2002 with force air heat and a/c. I'm having trouble with the a/c removing "enough" moisture this year. I live in SW Michigan and we are in a period of high heat and high humidity. Currently I am using a separate dehumidifier to stay on top of the moisture so I am wondering if 1) something might be wrong with my a/c unit (however my space is cool enough so the a/c IS working) or 2) I have it set wrong. I can call my heating guy but t will cost me $85.00 for a service call here. I have the a/c set to come on at 72 degrees as I am not in that building continuously. It is a painting studio and I come and go depending on the day. Note: In my 2,000 sq. ft. ranch home (one level/Indiana Limestone exterior/dirt crawl space) we have no permenent a/c but have two window units (one very old/one 2/3 yrs. old-one in each of the ends of the house) and I am ALSO running a separate dehumidifier in my home as well. (I am "assuming" that window size units are not strong enough to remove the moisture from this Indiana brick structure.) Note also this has been a VERY wet and cool year (until now) in Michigan. Suggestions? Maybe both dehumidifiers are needed THIS year due to the amount of rainfall....Thank you for your feedback!!
