French Country Kitchens

I love French country and I love kitchen design, so these are some of my favorites. I do believe just about anyone can transform their kitchen into a French country themed retreat, but you have to be willing to go all the way. An Eiffel Tower and toile tea towel does not French country make, but if you pull out the stops you can have a great finished product.
Some of these inspiration photos feel formal while others are very much more country, but that’s the beauty of French country decorating — just because “country” is in the name doesn’t mean it is only meant for Cape Cods and cottages.
If you have a French country kitchen in your home, please send me a picture. I would love to see it.

Here are some real French kitchens from a website for French properties for sale. A bit different than our American versions ;-) But honestly I'll bet they'd love our interpretations too :-) I myself have my own version of a French-inspired kitchen...just a few little things here and there....but no Eiffel towers...haha! :-)

@CK Great pics. I have often wondered what the French would think of our French Country ideas. Definitely no Eiffels. I will say that I have actually been to a couple of small islands off the coast of France with homes built hundreds of years ago that still look like our design ideas, but never on the mainland. They are much to progressive for such things, I guess. I'm sure there are some, but none I've seen. Thanks for the comment.

Don't know exactly why but both my hubby and are are sort of drawn to French-inspired things. They're just beautiful I guess :-)

We have romanticized it - and rightly so! Theirs is so simplified and functional our is fussy and detailed. Maybe we just like stuff!
