It is a lace cap hydrangea. I'm not sure the exact variety. . . .I have six similar to this. Mine are bloomed out a bit fuller, but because they are lace caps, they still have unbloomed buds. -

this hydrangea bush has been in my husbands family for atleast 3 generations he says. -

I wish it was mine. It is in my mother in laws back yard, but it has been replanted many times. Been in my husbands family for at least 3 generations! -
Perhaps some day it it will end up in your yard then. Or ask if you can have a cutting of that family heirloom. -
