Rita Marie on Jul 09, 2013Those plants are known to get mealy bugs on them. I had one once...never again. You have to spray it with insecticides to get rid of those bugs. Good luck.Helpful Reply

Douglas Hunt on Jul 10, 2013For an organic control of mealy bugs try rubbing alcohol. You can spray a mixture of 10 percent rubbing alcohol and 90 percent water directly onto the insects, or, dab the insects with a cotton swab dipped in rubbing alcohol. Repeat weekly until they are gone. Make sure you test on a small portion of plant before using widely as some plants have a sensitivity to alcohol.Helpful Reply

Nancy Hand on Jul 10, 2013Good advice Douglas!! I'm a firm believer in insecticides! As a matter of fact I have mealy bugs on my Geraniums. I have been treating them with alcohol. At first I poured the alcohol on the stems, it would kill them back some but they would come back. I did spray them with straight stuff not diluting it. It seems to be working!! :)Helpful Reply

Cynthia on Jul 11, 2013Another natural product to try is Neem Oil. You mix it with water and have to spray the plant completely. Make sure to look under the rim of you pot for hiding places. I had small plants that brought home mealy bugs after wintering in a greenhouse, I put the mixture in a bucket and gave them a complete dip. Mealy bugs can hide in the top soil layer so if you don't repot the whole plant, at least remove the top layer of soil and replace with new.Helpful Reply
