i used glass top oven cleaner -- worked great!
I tried zap on old depression glass-amazing stuff. It worked.I tried the vinegar ,etc, some but not complete effect. Zap is miraculous!
I use 1/2 vinegar and 1/2 cheap bottled lemon juice with a few good squirts of concentrated dishwashing liquid in a scrubby on a handle (for dishes). I find it cuts through the scale faster than just vinegar alone. If it is really bad, apply with the scrubby, let sit a bit, and rinse with hot water and dry. Repeat.
To maintain, the last person to shower each day, uses a squeegee or an absorbant towel or microfibre cloth to wipe the shower down. It takes 2 minutes and really prevents build-up.
I've tried the liquid car wax and buffing, but still prefer just to wipe down and let air dry. It's probably 5 or more years since I did the original cleaning to get hard water stains out and it's still perfect. No more then a wipe down with a small towel after shower. Easy Peasy. But, to each, his own.
First I would try natural ways such as vinegar as given in http://behindtheshower.com/clean-water-spots-off-shower-glass/.
