Nasturtium, Nasturtium, Wherefore Art Thou, Nasturtium

Wanted some flowering vines for my secret garden and I started 4 different kinds of vines from seeds. One of them, Nasturtium (say that 10 times fast!), is thriving and blooming now in several places in my garden. It gives pretty yellow, red and orange flowers. It is an edible plant, so I'll have to look up some recipes and see if I have the nerve to try eating some :) I only wish the rabbits would eat that instead of my plants!!!

Missingtx on Oct 08, 2014Ivylore, on one of these gardening pages here one woman said that she took bars of Irish soap and placed chunks between the plants, it seems the bunnies do not like the smell. I would be concerned though about the soap washing into the grden when you water or if it rains. perhaps if they were in a small container with holes in the top. The leaves of the nasturtium taste sort of like pepper, great on a green salad! The blossoms are edible also, and they can be sugared just like violets for cake decorating.
