I agree with Robin T, I am fairly certain it is a pineapple lily

I have two of them, this is what the flower looks like when its in bloom, i can't remember the name of it but , it almost looks like an allium.

it's def not a pineapple, yucca, amarylis, not a succlent

If it is a lily of the nile, I have several and it looks just like them. However, they have never bloomed, thus I've never seen this stage. The leaves look identical.

Guzmania conifera has orange red flowers and the foliage is not the same as the photo shown here.

LOL this post has been fun! @ Decorating Den.... Don't know what it is. I don't think I will figure it out until it actually fully blooms. I think from all the suggestions here I have gotten it's an Allium or Bromeliad of some sort. It is very slow growing. I took these pics last week and the "button" is maybe an inch taller. I will keep you all posted.

This is Peruvian Scilla, Cher M. from Buffalo, N.Y put up a great photo...some Hyacinths look like this too, and the other I.D. posts identify it to similar looking plants, but it is Not Agapanthus, leaves similar individually, but do not grow in a whorl and the flower stalk grows up way above the leaves, and the flower develops over time, This is a Scilla.

Ding ding ding I think we have a winner! From what I have read I would be surprised if it is not a Scilla. Thanks Blooming Gardener.

Yes they do, Tina M. I think it will be the Pervian Scilla. But I won't know for sure until it blooms. A watch flower does not bloom! LOL I can't wait to see what it does.
