My lamp needs an update

How can I update this torches lamp. Something more modern.
Was a gift from mother, would like to update

Buy a drum shade and sit it on top of glass shade so it covers the glass. You could also dry brush some metallic paint on the body of the lamp or paint it a different colour.

Paint the metal in any number of metal-like shades. Rustoleum makes a great paint for metal with a primer. I painted old ugly brass lamps with a oil rubbed bronze paint and they look awesome!

Rustoleum's hammered silver would look good with the gray in your drapes. Personally, I like your lamp just as it is.
