is there a checklist or guide to getting ready for homeownership?
-
Yamini M on Mar 17, 2011There are several govt checklist for home ownership guidelines available. Here is a link to the one in NY. As a new home owner myself, the first and foremost thing to remember is never get emotional while home shopping, don't give a clue to your Realtor you love the red brick home. Take care of your credit history and shop around for loans, lock in when you get a good percentage. Usually the rate is good for 30 days I think. Make a list of what is the most important to you. Basement Vs big backyard. Bonus room Vs additional bathroom. These really help. I developed my own list and it really helped me decide on a home I love so much! see link: http://www.nyc.gov/html/hpd/html/buyers/guide.shtmlHelpful Reply
