Butternut Pumpkins Will Be the Star of My Garden This Fall.

Last year I had a butternut pumpkin patch and got two or three out of it. This year is a different story. At last count I had 15 mature butternut pumpkins out there and a straggler acorn squash as well.
The area where they are growing is where I had compost piles last year, so I credit that soil with a big part of this year's success.
The recent rains have had an impact on the vines. What was very lush a few weeks ago is not much more straggly, but the pumpkins themselves are doing fine.
