I am seeing carpenter ants in and around my home. Does anyone have a suggestion on what to do.

I would think the weather is hot and dry, that's about the only time I see ants in my home ....and I don't have any idea of how to get rid of them...hopefully someone will post an idea :)

Carpenter ants live in hollow moist areas. They don't chew wood like termites do. Look for their holes - usually open knotholes in nearby trees. No need to control if you find them there.

Walter is correct, you need to find where they are and treat that area. I would suggest rather then go over all the other fine posts that have been done on this subject go to top of this page and type carpenter ants. You will get a lot of very valuable information on this topic.

Thank you for the suggestions but this doesn't answer my question because if the ants are in my home in the wood how can I find them

Try Maxforce Carpenter Ant Bait gel in places where you see them indoors

I personally would get professional assistance because if you don't find all of the ants you will continue to have problems. The outside of the home should be treated, too.

Carpenter ants utilize old termite galleys that were once occupied. They really only eat wood that has been softened by moisture. If the wood is really dry and surrounding areas are dry as well, you pretty much control them. But in your case, you can have a nest in the insulation in the walls or ceilings and their moisture is coming from plugged gutters with moist leaves and debris. So look for areas in which moisture can occur and most likely you will find the source of the nest.
