Peony bushes not blooming every year...

Les and Gina on Jul 11, 2016Do notice any big black ants crawling on top of the blooms. If you don't than that's probably the problem. The ants tickle the buds to open so they can get to the sweet nectar. My mom had the same problem and every year she would spray the bush to kill the ants and the buds won't open when I told her the ants and the bush have a symbiotic relationship ( they both need each other ) she stop spraying and the buds bloomed. Good luck.Helpful Reply

Lisa Montecalvo Bourret on Jul 11, 2016Peonies love full sun and a soil high in organic matter. Could your plants be planted too deep? The eyes should be no more than an 1" deep.Helpful Reply
