Anyone used the Home Depot under floor heating mats they sell? They are well priced but I want to make sure they work.

KMS Woodworks on Jun 06, 2012I have not used the HD brand but I have used both the "warmly yours" and the "suntouch" versions. http://www.warmlyyours.com/en-US/floor-heating?gclid=CJHcvbbqubACFYMKKgodXx295Q http://www.sun-touch.com/?gclid=CPeY383qubACFWQDQAod9zPN7A I liked the suntouch version a bit better in terms of the termostat and over all "kit" value. When I set up my own master bath I used a suntouch system, One trick that works great is to secure the mat / heating element with a hot glue gun prior to embedding in this set or level mix. I think the level mix route is the best...as it make for a smooth easy surface to set the tile. http://www.hometalk.com/Kevin/project/2181Helpful Reply

Woodbridge Environmental Tiptophouse.com on Jun 07, 2012I too have not used the HD brand, but like KMS have used the warmly yours brand as well. Personally I steer clear of products that can fail due to product type unless there is a good back up warranty and someone to go to when there is an issue. With the Big box store over the counter products such as this, I am uncomfortable using the product as the warranty always says, do not bring back to the store contact such and such for warranty info. I rather be able to walk back in where I purchased the product and talk the person who sold me the product to get to warranty repair or replacement. It is not saying what they sell is no good, just as a contractor/pro I feel more comfortable speaking with someone face to face when I have an issue rather then to someone on the other side of the planet.Helpful Reply

KMS Woodworks on Jun 07, 2012Key to a good install is to keep checking the mat with an ohm meter...or use the little "alarm" thingy the sell this will let you know if the heating element gets damaged. I like to bed these in level quick as it provides a quick and simple barrierHelpful Reply
