Jovibarba heuffelii - the Other Hens and Chicks

This odd plant is very similar in care to Sempervivum, except for it's odd way of reproducing itself; instead of forming chicks on long stolons, the crown itself will split into two or more new ones.
Lush rich colors, and some unusual characteristics make this a fascinating plant; add some Jovibarba heuffelii to your hardy succulent collection...

It would be very interesting to see what the seeds look like.

@Jacinth Barnett They look exactly like fine brown dust! The amazing part is that they all germinate, and I'm sure that some of them have twins...

All my hens and chicks and other succulents bloomed beautifully down here in Ga this year and I didn't know I could collect seeds. Definitely next year I will. I have garden sales and people want them so much and I don't have enough to go around, so this will help me out. Thanks for all your wonderful information on succulents I have been addicted for years and keep getting more. Home Depot down here has a good variety. And I do take a leaf off of mine and make more, that is easy way to propagate them.

@Patt It's important to correctly identify what you have - the hardy ones, Sempervivum and Jovibarba, as far as I know, do not grow from leaves. I've tried, and never had any success with it. The tender ones, Echeveria and others, will grow from a leaf. Those will live after producing the flower stalk, the hardy ones don't. Although they're related, they do have some major differences!
