Rocking chair dilemma

I painted this chair blue but it isn't what I want. Actually I have no idea what would be popular other than white. Any suggestions?

I like the blue but what direction were you thinking ? What about it don't you like ? Would you like it better if you waxed it with a antique stain or did you want something else altogether ? They have some great metallic waxes that are easy to use. Let it sit for a while and think about it. I know I have to when something doesn't turn out the way I envisioned (which by the way happens a lot sometimes.) Have a great day :)

Choosing the color should be based on the placement of the chair and your other decor.

Why don't you paint it a vibrant colour that you LOVE, then stencil some flowers on it, then....sit in it and love the result!

I have a black one in a guest bedroom that has blue walls and white sheers and white dresser. Theme is nautical so I have various items on the walls in tones of blue and gray and whites. That black really pops against the blue but goes along with the white dresser. Guess black is kinda neutral :)

I agree, what room is it going in, or on a covered porch? If outside, some stenciled flowers, Etc. across the top would be cute.

I feel your pain, I DO know where you are coming from! I would be tempted to go over it with some yellow, and then lightly distress to show the blue. Those two colors are so cheery and refreshing together, and would work in or out. :)

I too love the blue, but if you don't like the color, I would just repaint it a color that you prefer. You could also paint it part one color and part another. The back vertical bars could be white for example.

The blue is growing on me. I like your idea too, thank you

Have you thought of doing some sponge paint over the blue without getting rid of the blue. Pick any other color you like and test on the back of the chair. Wipe off right away if you don't like it. I would try some gray, black or maybe a darker blue.

I'm considering stenciling or painting a matching color. Thank you

I would give the antiquing wax a try . That might just be the trick . Good luck hope your hubby gets back to work real soon.

I have a little cabinet I want to turn into a small pie safe. I have some old copper screen and mint green is the color I want for it.

I like the color itself but re-sale for furniture tends to run more neutral or customized. Cream, black, camel, navy, red and gray are all considered neutral and most will mix in with someone's existing decor. Consider repainting it based on your prospective clients.

Before you paint, take some sandpaper and give it a good "shabby" look, and then go over with darker wax.

I would take a piece of old wood and paint it the same color and then try doing diferent colors with stencil or ragging or even sponging to see which one I like on it.

go bold and paint the back slats red white, leave one blue and lastly red

That's a pretty good idea. I want to stencil Home on the head rest and I think those would go good together

Are you keeping the rocker? If so, paint it any color you desire that fits into your existing color scheme.....or go wild and paint it a bright color that says "Hey look at me!" :-) If you're planning on selling it, look around at stores in your area that may sell these types of items and work from there. There is never one "right" answer to a question like this. It depends on what you like :-) I have painted some pieces and didn't like the color. Then I've dry brushed other colors over it and suddenly the new color that resulted made me love the end result. Try a few different things on a small area to see what really makes you happy :-)

Picture of the black rocker in the blue room. Don't forget you can pick up pretty cushions to accent whatever color you decide.

I have thought about a cushion. Always good for a rocking chair.
