So my neighbour wanted to get rid of her cane outdoor set as it was in a bad way and taking up space on her deck. I don't think the thrift store would have taken it off her hands in the state it was in. Anyhow, I took it and gave it a makeover and here is the result. The box cushions had torn and stained fabric, so I made new zip up removable covers in an indoor/outdoor mould and sun fade resistant fabric and the chair frames and ottoman were sanded back and undercoated and painted. The webbing base was also shot so I replaced that too. It took a few weeks to complete, but it did turn out rather well in the end! I could have added piping to the cushions but that was a bridge too far in this instance! It was a lot of work! If you are a bit of a seamstress, I am sure the cushions would not be such a challenge!

Rotted webbing had to be replaced. Tip: for outdoors use rubber or similar webbing, not hessian. Hessian will stretch, sag and eventually rot if you leave the seats outside in rain. These chairs are kept under a covered deck.
Flaking, chipping paint right through to the cane.
