A Vintage 1934 Suitcase With a Story to Tell and Just a Touch of Redo

I found this vintage 1934 suitcase at a yard sale but I had no idea it had such a sweet story to go along with it. I didn't want to tweek it too much so I just added what it rightfully deserved! Come read the story and see just what I did to this vintage find@ http://mrsblackstone.blogspot.com Sweet Tea N' Salty Air
A very sturdy suitcase from at least 1934
It came without a no handle so I used some heavy duty cording and some ribbon and made a shabby handle
It can either be used open or closed for decorating
And this my friend is the sticker that tells the sweet story

I love these pieces with stories!!!! I often find pieces at yard sales that the owners will tell me stories about--they are often eager to pass this info on. I have copper baby shoes with stories. dolls. jewelry furniture--you name it. But the best was one where I had to discover the story on my own---I bought a little leather covered Diary for the engravings thinking I could re-use them. I eventually discovered that the entire little book was hand written in and was for the year 1904. I had no authors name; no town, no nutthin'! I eventually made a list of places mentioned and people and one day my husband--who had NO interest in this whatsoever!-set out to find where you could hear the church bells from one town and walk to a one room school house in less than an hour---clues! We managed to FIND the house that the Diary had been written in and I now have had a multi year project locating info on the woman who wrote it--her amazing family--and have made many good friends who are related to her or who are interested in this little book, The house she lived in was built in 1792 and was in the family until the 1920's. The family and her husbands family traveled the world and settled many interesting places. Who knew!

Love your suitcase. I have one I bought about 7 years ago and it now sits on top of a dresser in our guest bedroom. Ours has stripes. Not sure how old it is. We keep our Christmas decorations in it. Wish I knew the story behind the one I have!
