DIY Trellis Using Old Garden Tools

3 Materials
Got any old garden tools sitting in your shed, garage, or barn? If you're not using them anymore, they can be repurposed into a really awesome trellis that adds a little country charm to any suburban yard!
Find all my hints & tricks to making one in my original tutorial here!
Unfortunately, I wasn't lucky enough to inherit old garden tools or find them in the dark corner of a barn. BUT, I found a bunch of them at the thrift store one day and was so excited- so I snapped a few up for this repurposing project!
To create a trellis, I selected three tools and attached cross "beams" to the handles with scrap wood molding.

Note- ALL the DIY details for this step are in my original tutorial!
To cover up the connecting points, I wrapped each juncture with heavy jute twine.
After everything was connected and secured, BOOM- we had a fantastic, farmhouse-style trellis to put in our yard. And yes, there is a very good reason why the bottoms of each handle look the way they do.
I didn't have any climbing flower vines or snap peas this year, so it's more decorative than functional for now. BUT it will come in handy year after year when I need a sturdy (and awesome) trellis for my garden!

Great idea. Why not paint a huge flower on each shovel for added color? Thanks for sharing your garden project.
