For anyone wanting to put something decorative on their walls but cannot afford to buy artworks, here is a simple and fun solution. You probably all have those dollar stores that sell the cheap canvas for budding artists. Well, with some of the modern, funky, tea towel prints and fabrics around nowadays, it is a simple matter to buy reasonably priced canvas and wrap them in a tea towel and staple the tea towel to the back of the frame. Add some hooks and string to hang and you have some cheap, funky wall art. This is good for any homes that don't have solid brick walls that can take a heavy piece of art as this art work is so lightweight, you can hang it with those stick on and easily removable picture hooks that they sell at the hardware stores. Great for anyone who is renting and wants to jazz up their space and put their own mark on the place (without damaging the walls). If you get bored with the look, simply remove the tea towel and use it in the kitchen for its original purpose! Check out the photos - I hope this gives you some good ideas to get stapling!

Michelle W on Jul 26, 2013Hi Carole, They look great ! I've been using tea towels a bit myself, they make a perfect pillow case, just unpick the hemming and sew two together. Also they are ideal for cushions, as in the following photo, I love owls and this tea towel was only $7.50, you can't go wrong. Thanks for a great post. MW

Carole on Jul 26, 2013Hi Michelle, love your owls! Yes I have also seen tea towels used to re-cover dining or kitchen chairs. Probably works best if you have the type of chair where the seat pad pops out and you can just staple the tea towel around the seat and pop it back into the frame. You are only limited by the size of the tea towel and your imagination! A cheap and easy fix.
