Succulents

I really loved both Organized Clutter and Drought Smart Plants posts, I have a very small succulent growing in the paving cracks and three large terracotta pots of various succulents, practically indestructible, which is a good thing.
PS. It is winter here (very unseasonably mild) and to the right in the photo is a Day Lily in flower !

@JUDY Most likely you're referring to Grand Forks, North Dakota - I'm in Grand Forks, British Columbia - a different animal. You're welcome to follow anyway - either me or @Michelle W !

Michelle, most succulents are self propagating - they make pups - you can also break off a leaf cleanly, let it dry out and you will see little roots start to form and then place that on some cacti potting mix or any free draining potting mix and you can get many plants from just the one plant. Other plants that propagate really easily are bromeliads. I bought 4 small ones that had red foliage and ended up with more than twenty. Just separate the 'pups' from the parent plant when they are big enough and repot. You could do this and swap with your friends and neighbours to increase the pool of plants to choose from. This keeps your gardening costs down whilst allowing you to try growing lots of different plants.
