Can anyone identify this flower. It stands over 10 feet in many cases. It was found in South Georgia in full shade and spreads (maybe from seed, not sure) Looks like an Allium or Ornamental onion, but the leaves are like hydrangeas. I'll post a full picture with many with a woman standing among them.

Tammie S, that is a Pagoda plant. There are many different colors and shapes and they grow wild here in Florida. They are beautiful.

Thank you Sherrie. I've been to Florida all my life and somehow missed these. Probably because I'm always in the sun and not the shade! I'll research them- The one's I see online look different. Is this just a variety?

    Thanks again.

I love the large size of this plant. I wonder if it would grow in GA?

@Patricia M - psssst! In the heading sweetie. Tammie S. said she found it in S. Georgia!!

Actually, the leaves look like Hydranga to me, but if this is a "shade" plant then?????

I found it in Douglas, Coffee County. It spreads like mint! We were in total shade with lots of hydrangeas as well as these. And yes the leaves do look like hydrangeas. I thought I posted the other picture that shows it from a distance with a person in the foreground.

WOOOOWWWWW!!! Golly that's pretty darned impressive. They're HUGE!! Wanna send me some???? I have plenty of wooded shaded areas that I can't get nuthin to grow in. Wonder if Va. gets too cold for this (whatever it is) Sure looks hardy in your setting!!

I have one that's not growing very fast, may be because it's in the sun...and I'm in Atlanta (Kennesaw) ;)

Tammie S, they definitely prefer shade. There are all kinds of shapes and colors.

Susan S, I removed most of these plants because they were taking over the whole area. Do you really want one? I'm sure I can still find one but I won't know the flower color.

Tammie S, Go to Yahoo Images and type: Clerodendrum. You will see the different colors/shapes. I only know the common name I was given so I had to find this on Yahoo.

This is Clerodendron bungei. It has attractive flowers but some consider it to be a weed because it spreads so fast.
