Jennie Lee on Jul 28, 2016Here in WV, we used to have tons of them, 50 years ago. Since then, they have not been here at all. In fact, I saw one this year, and it was the first I'd seen in decades! There's a lot of info about them on Google and even on YouTube. What I saw basically said that they do best with hot weather and moist soil. If you use traps, you must empty them every other day, because the smell of dead beetles will drive live ones away from the traps! I also read that if you go around with a bucket of soapy water, to knock beetles off your beloved plants and into the bucket, do it in late morning and/or late afternoon, because that's when they feed. After they feed, they go off to breed, so catch them first! Areas like mine, that don't have beetles, might be benefiting from parasites and bacteria that kill the beetles. Never expected to cheer for parasites and bacteria!Helpful Reply

Shila Childs on Jul 28, 2016In Missouri we have had them for at least two months. We put out the bug bags from Lowe's and have filled several of them. They eat roses, crepe myrtle and hibiscus so they are not picky about their menu.Helpful Reply
