William on Jul 29, 2016What you have is a reproduction Asante Asipim chair. They generally were made for royalty or the leader of the tribe. If it was original, it would be valued around $1000 to $2500. As a reproduction around $350 to $500.Helpful Reply

Elaine on Jul 30, 2016I see "She" of Moses Lake and William of Burbank have answered your question so all I can add is to say what an interesting piece this is! I picture that beside a chair and used as an end table holding a drink or snack. I would just put a few books on the seat for interest and also let the metal part (on the backrest) show. It certainly is a conversation piece and I'm interested to know how or where you acquired it.Helpful Reply

Marilyn Zaruba on Jul 31, 2016If I were you, I would send a picture of it to Sotheby's and see what they say about it. You might have a real museum piece. I would be leary of just any appraiser....too many times they will low ball it to get it cheap.Helpful Reply

Jennie Lee on Jul 31, 2016I was just thinking how easy it would be to make a small table to match it, out of a parson's table, upholstery tacks, and metal strips, if you ever want one.Helpful Reply
