Lighted kitchen window teacup and saucers curio cabinet

We were living in a house with an outdated/ugly, and pointless kitchen window that led to our family room. That's right, our family room, and not the outside of the house. I decided to get creative with it, and come up with a LIGHTED KITCHEN WINDOW TEACUP AND SAUCERS CURIO CABINET with sliding glass doors (as in the doctors' offices) to put my small teacup and saucers collection. I don't know if it has been done prior to my doing it, but when I did it, I had never heard, or seen it before.

Leida, this is so creative! What a strange place for a window, but you really made it into something cool and unique!

Great job! So pretty. I did some what the same thing when we added a room onto our home. Instead of a window we now have a primitive looking medicine cabinet.

Moving into a little old ranch house that has a window seperating a small sunroom from living. Great idea and color combos!

How strange to add on a room and leave in the window. Duh. It would be hard to be a "pass-through" over the sink. You made a wierd thing work beautifully! Not sure I would have ever thought to do that! Good job!

THANK YOU ALL SOOO VERY MUCH FOR THE WONDERFUL COMMENTS!!! I think I should also add that the family room was build much lower than the kitchen. In other words there is a difference of about 14 inches in height within the 2 rooms. For example, when one stands in the kitchen the now curio cabinet seems to be at the right window height, but when one is in the family room the curio cabinet is high which makes it look a lot better from that room. I'm very happy with my result. I'm always ...»
doing little CRAZY ideas/things all around my house. I did this about 4 years ago now. I should also add that I actually made 2 of these curio cabinets instead of 1. The other one is in the foyer located write next to the kitchen, but also in front of the family room. The 2nd curio cabinet holds my tea collection for our daily usage. THANK YOU ALL, AGAIN!!!

Becky, THANKS!!! By the way, the other side of the cabinet (family room side) does not have sliding doors. It (they, because there are 2 of them) has a whole non-movable glass as in a picture window.

Leida R, the previous owner probably left the window as a pass through for food. I bought a house like that once and used the window for pass through as my friends in North Palm Beach used their window for that purpose when they built their den. I love your idea with glass shelves. Bet it is beautiful at night with the light behind it.

Nancy Rhodes C, I understand what you are saying, but I don't think that is the case here because the difference in height from one room to the other makes it very difficult for this to be done. Read my second to last comment before this one. Thanks for liking it!!!

Love the colors you chose. The white sets off the cabinet from ther rest of the kitchen while reflecting more of the light. It's also a good background for the cups and saucers. Sunflower tire planters and window cabinets. What a variety of skills you have.

It is Marg. THANK YOU SOOO MUCH!!! I put an energy smart LED technology 0.5 watts/ 2800K C7 light bulb. Did you notice the little lamp shade??? LOL!!! Well I don't know what they are called, but it is one of those acrylic Walmart's little dishes (like a very small bowl) that people use when cooking to put spices and have you in preparation for their cooking. It cost me like 97 cents. I used that because I couldn't find what I wanted, and decided to get one of those, and make a hole in the middle for the light bulb.
