All bottle openers are created equal, right? Nope...not when it involves a repurposed wooden recipe box! Find the full step-by-step tutorial here!
Did I really say that I used a wooden recipe box? Yes I did! In fact, it was this one...that I found while thrifting one day. I see these all the time- but this one, with its hinged top was exactly what I was looking for- and super cheap to boot.
I wanted a clever cap catcher for our bottle opener...and that's what this unexciting recipe box became! I guess you could say that the recipe box is the "key ingredient" to my project...
After altering it as shown, I connected it to a plank of scrap wood that we had in our garage- both pieces of which I had painted first, so that they'd look cohesive together.
When all was said and done...and hung on our back porch...we had the most excellent bottle opener ever! And the twist? Cap disposal is easy, clean, and quick! Can you guess why?
I hope you love it as much as I do! And just in time for all the autumn beers. :)

Nancy Flemming on Aug 23, 2016Love it! I looked all over for and inexpensive cap catcher and ended up using a a small planter pot from dollar store that I drilled a hole in. This is much better thank you for sharing.

Great idea.. but, what do you make out of the bottle caps? My Granddaughters make earrings & other jewelry out of them, just an idea for you..
