this was a bench I found in a Savers store with ugly, plastic, faux-quilted top. And I love black paint so I painted it black and covered it with a remnant from Joann Fabrics. Purchased and redone - all for less than $10.00
Enjoyed the project?

Marcia Potter on May 28, 2016I'm currently redoing a similar piece from my late parents' home. It was always there for as long as I can remember (I'm 56 now) and I think they inherited it. When I deconstructed it, the "stuffing" was a weird jute like material and what looked like dryer lint, with a couple of older fabrics under the last one. The board across the top was old and bowed, so I have to replace that piece. Yours has inspired me to maybe paint the old wood (which is engraved) and cover it with a coordinating fabric rather than refinish the wood. Love the fabric you chose!
