Faux Watering Can

Lots of cute ideas for faux watering cans so I thought I would try to make one. I already had purchased a can that had been on sale several years ago and it's just been sitting inside getting dusty.
Although the tag has $4.99 it actually was reduced further to $2.99! I love the lavender color.
A trip to Walmart produced wire and beads. The wire is 18 gauge. The beads on the left are actually a bracelet from a dear friend (lost beads so I'm not wearing it).
Lucky for me the end of the spout unscrewed making easy access (or so I thought) for the wire.
I already had this hook which used to hold a solar light.
I painted the hook Rich Plum--gorgeous color for those who love purple.
I had to find smaller gauge wire to attach the bracelet. A little tedious trying to push the wire through...I wanted the bracelet attached in several places to hold it in place.
Once I had the bracelet on I cut each piece of wire and put it through making a bend to hold it on the back and a bend at the end. To my dismay the clear beads would not go on the heavier wire so I used the smaller wire. I am hoping it won't rust and break.
So here's all of my faux water drops! I wasn't going to use the blue, but changed my mind because it picks up the blue in the bracelet beads. Only one of the teardrops would go through the wire. Ugh!
Here it is!
I painted a stepping stone with the Rich Plum. Maybe I will find a higher pot to place it in...maybe not. I love decorating the garden....so many places this watering can can go!
So, after making original post I happened upon this butterfly at the dollar store. Thought of the watering can and here it is!
UPDATE: After a year, the watering can really faded. The beads have not! So I decided to repaint the can with the rich plum paint that I already had. Since the sprinkler cap unscrews I did not do anything to the beads--just covered them with paper and spray painted. Looking a lot better with richer and brighter paint. Elevated on a higher hook makes a better presentation.
I positioned my watering can over a stepping stone I made. Now I have a faux purple water puddle!

Love the lavender/purple. One question, did you drill a hole in the can to keep water from collecting in it?
