Jeanne Martin on Aug 07, 2016You already have a pattern so any block pattern could easily be painted (or maybe dark stains?). Like the ever popular black & white tiles you see in kitchens. You just need to find a color scheme you like and would work with your decorating style. Or paint the lines to look like grout and the parquet a tile color you like. With a good sealant it might work!Helpful Reply

Diana Deiley on Aug 07, 2016Why not lightly sand the floor and stain it a different color. Weathered gray seems to be popular. Great save though. Best of luck.Helpful Reply

Jan Loehr on Aug 08, 2016I happen to really love parquet floors, but if you do not go with an overlay product, this area would blend in with your surrounding carpet which looks grayish from your photo, if you sand it down and stain it a darker neutral grayish tone...it would flow better than two completely different color tones which you have now. Good Luck!Helpful Reply

Leslie on Aug 11, 2016Connie, I am not sure if this will work on parquet but it is a thought that just hit me. Leave the last outside edge of parquet the way it is or sand and restain. The middle portions of parquet you can sand and paint to emulate a rug. OR you can do some stain painting such as what M&M Embellishments has shown us on some of her furniture pieces. If you plug in Stain Painting in the hometalk search engine a few hits will come up. You can also "stain" with paint if you want to go that route. Good luck.Helpful Reply
