This is a project my husband started years ago. It sat for many years because we both had problems doing the physical labor due to injuries. After looking at the mess for years, we finally decided that we would have to hire someone to do it. Our landscape company is Reuvers Nursery in Hager City Wisconsin. A rainy summer delayed the project even further. In August they finally started it. Others asked me to share the make over. I have detailed it in phases as it is being completed.
This area had become a weed patch and was home to many elements of wildlife that we didn't want living there. The goals in this project are: 1 -complete the patio using petrified seashore limestone flagstones, 2 - complete the multi-level retaining walls using retaining wall blocks, 3 - put a waterfall within the multi-leveled retaining walls using petrified seashore limestone flagstone, 4 - remove the above ground pool pad, level out the area and seed the area with fast growing grass seed in preparation for installation of a gazebo, 5 - plant shrub roses and other flowering shrubs known to attract butterflies and hummingbirds.
They had to dig out the patio area to level it and fill in with class four rock before setting the flagstone. They used a level as they were digging to make sure it was all level before they put in the class four rock.
At the same time another team worked on the multi-leveled retaining walls to dig out the weeds, remove and straighten an existing level, and add another level.
This is what it looked like at the completion of day 1. The retaining walls were finished. The class four had been brought in and leveled in preparation for the flagstone to be set.
This is what it looked like at the completion of day two. They installed the pump for the waterfall and began the first level of it. They completed the flagstone on the patio. I will post again when the project has been completed.

Lovesunique on Aug 08, 2016When I saw the cost ($13,000) at the beginning I thought: Wow, that's a lot. But when you see just after two days of work all the progress being done and your dream is going to be realized--well worth the money. Be sure to share the completion. It's going to be both amazing and spectacular.
