Sue c. on Aug 08, 2016Bamboo IS grass, some is the largest in the world. I love it! And I love your galvanized trough. Very nice!! Are there drainage holes in the bottom? It would need a few. Also just like grass bamboo needs fertilizer. Get the plain stuff-no weed killer.Helpful Reply

Eileen on Aug 08, 2016Bamboo is actually a rhizome, or a grass as others have indicated. If not kept confined it will spread everywhere. Cut it back, make some fishing poles for your kids and grandkids after drying it until the stalk is really yellow. It should return as rhizomes easily return after cutting.Helpful Reply

Patty on Oct 25, 2016Bamboo LOVES water. If it's possible, pull it out and line the container with a thick pond liner with a hole at the bottom on one end. Before re-planting, slightly elevate the container on the opponent of your drainage hole in the liner. [Bamboo LOVES water but shouldn't sit in it - slow drain is fine] Mix some fish emulsion with water and feed it! You'll have a beautiful bushy bamboo next Spring! I feed mine all Summer. Using fish emulsion won't burn your plants (yes it stinks for the first half hour). Enjoy that beauty!Helpful Reply
