Mechanics Table to Kitchen Island

If you open your eyes to possibilities, the ideas are limitless! Here is a little project I undertook ideally for our kitchen, until we stumbled upon a huge cherry wood slab! This table came from an estate sale at a farm. It was in use as a mechanics table. The image I shared of the before, although not the original image of the table, gives you an idea of how it looked when we got it. I took about half an inch off the top to get rid of any grunge, at the same time preserving a lot of the marks left behind from many years of use. In the end, it is stunning for use as an island or desk in an industrial loft or when mixed properly, could even fall into place in a nice shabby country kitchen.
Enjoyed the project?
