How to use naphtha to refinish wood?

Jackie Hendricks on Aug 14, 2016Have you tried the original Old English (brown oil based) polish/scratch remover? Been around forever and works wonderfully without all the work. Just needs to be reapplied every now and then.Helpful Reply

William on Aug 14, 2016I AGREE 200% with Jackie! Do not use naphtha and definitely not steel wool on your table top. Naphtha is use to remove finishes on antique furniture. Most antique furniture was finished with shellac or lacquer. It used in making lighter fluid. Steel wool will dull any finish. http://nj.gov/health/eoh/rtkweb/documents/fs/.... The Old English will clean, remove old polish, fill in scratches, and polish the surface.Helpful Reply

Patty on Aug 15, 2016I would not use anything on your table top that is going to strip the finish off. Unless you know what you are doing you will never be happy with it. The old English polish is the best way to go. I have used it for years, really good stuff, just be careful it does stain carpet and floors and etc.Helpful Reply
