How to remove the sour milk smell?
-
TeebsPlett on Aug 15, 2016Try ground coffee beans. Dampen the affected area slightly and sprinkle the ground coffee beans over the area. The coffee serves two purposes: 1) It will absorb the remnants of the sour milk. 2) You home will smell like fresh coffee, rather than sour milk. Remember, this is not a quick fix - you might have to repeat a few times. Alternatively, proper dry steam cleaning should also get rid of it.Helpful Reply

Sherrie on Aug 15, 2016It is down in the padding. You need a rug cleaner to suck it out. I don't know how long ago this has happened but if left to long it molds and gets pretty smelly. Rent, borrow a good rug cleaner you need to suck up the milk.Helpful Reply

Marion Kaer on Aug 15, 2016There is a product called NIL ODOR. It's hard to find these days, but I sourced it (special order) from the local Home Hardware store on Grand Avenue in Chatham, Ontario. I give you the address because you may end up calling them and asking them to mail you some. Nil Odor will take any nasty smell out of anything. I've used it to remove cat pee from the upholstery of my car-- can you imagine anything worse? another idea is to steam the fabric with tea tree oil, if you can't find the NIL ODOR.Helpful Reply

Lee Govan on Aug 21, 2016Yuk! What a smell to contend with. I have done this myself. Once visually cleaned and dried, I heavily sprinkled bi carbonate of soda (baking soda) on the area and left it in the sun with the door open. 24 hours later vacuum it up and the soda will take the smell with it. Great for sports shoes too. You add a couple of drops of essential oil in with it if you want. Just make sure that the smell has gone first. You may find that nil odor will only disguise the smell of milk. It did when I used it on milk odour and was back again once the car warmed up in the sunHelpful Reply
